“ON THE SCENE” A Finalist for National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Award

November 11, 2014

“ON THE SCENE” got some great news: not one, but two of our interviews are finalists for the National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Award presented by the Los Angeles Press Club.

The interview that I conducted last year with rocker Southside Johnny on the Count Basie Theatre stage in Red Bank, New Jersey was singled out along with my interview earlier this year in New York with Oscar winner, Rita Moreno.

It’s always an honor to be recognized by my peers and my industry. But LA is in many ways the epicenter of entertainment journalism.  And for “ON THE SCENE” to be nominated by the journalists of LA is a tremendous honor, indeed.

Receiving The Gracie Award in Beverly Hills

John Bathke’s 2012 Gracie Award

A huge honor for ON THE SCENE this week in Los Angeles. Our show received the national Gracie Award bestowed by the Alliance for Women in Media, an organization that recognizes programming for, by and about women.

I accepted the award in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Wednesday. My interview with Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love received the award for Best Interview, a selection made by judges from submissions by tv stations and production companies across the United States. So this is no small deal and we couldn’t be more proud.

And to be able to accept the award at the Beverly Wilshire, one of the most famous and posh hotels was no hardship either, I must admit.

If you follow me on twitter @JohnBathkeLive then you got my updates throughout the week from L.A.

A tremendous week in L.A. and more coming next week on twitter…so become one of my tweeps and don’t miss out!
